We are delighted to announce Svetlana Bryzgalova has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.

Svetlana Bryzgalova joined London Business School in August 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Finance from Stanford Business School, having completed her PhD from London School of Economics in 2015. Svetlana is an empirical asset pricing scholar whose research focuses on econometric identification, high-dimensional asset pricing, and market structure, with growing interests in macro-finance. She has published in top journals such as the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Financial Economics.

Svetlana teaches on the MFA Asset Management course and Finance I for the MiM programme and has taught the Financial Economics II / Empirical Finance course on the PhD programme and a PhD elective on Machine Learning. She has presented her work at top academic institutions and regularly acts as a referee for leading journals in finance and economics, winning several awards for her reviewing. She also serves as Associate Editor at the Review of Finance and at the Journal of Financial Econometrics.

Jean Pauphilet joined London Business School in August 2020 as an Assistant Professor of Management Science and Operations from MIT where he received his PhD. Jean is an operations research (OR) scholar whose contributions span two complementary domains. On the methodological front, he develops algorithms addressing problems in discrete and robust optimisation as well as machine learning optimisation. In parallel, his applied research is motivated by real-world challenges, where he designs models and operational research methods to address important practical problems. He has published in top journals such as Operations Research and MSOM.

Jean has taught the MBA Business Analytics course (Tailored Core) and the Decision and Risk Analysis course for the MiM programme, as well as Advanced Optimization and Emerging Topics on the PhD programme. He initiated the London Operations Researchers Day (LORD; a one-day conference for London-based researchers in operations), and reviews for numerous top journals, as well as winning two service/reviewer awards.
